Getting started

Send your first email sequence

5 min read
A sequence is an automated series of emails, with waits in between, that runs so you do not have to chase every follow-up by hand. Here you will build one step by step.

Before you start

Two things need to be in place before a sequence can send:

  • at least one email template (Settings → Email Templates), and
  • a connected email account (Settings → Integrations).

This guide covers building the sequence. Connect your email to start sending.

Open Sequences

Go to Settings, then Sequences. Click Create Sequence to open the editor.

The Sequences page under Settings, with a Create Sequence button and an empty-state message.

Name your sequence

Give the sequence a clear name at the top (for example Introductory outreach) so you can find it later. The blank canvas is where you lay out your steps.

Add your steps

Click Add first step and choose Email. In the panel on the right, pick the email Template to send.

Keep going to build a drip: add a Wait step to pause a few days, then another Email. Use the Settings tab if you want the sequence to enrol companies automatically when they reach a pipeline stage.

Note

A step marked No template is not finished. Choose a template for every email step before you save, otherwise the sequence cannot run.

Starting the sequence

Once your steps are configured and saved, enrolcompanies to begin: from a company’s Quick Actions menu, or by attaching the sequence to a campaign. Sending only starts once your email account is connected.
